On August 29th, in honour of National Sports Day, Amrita Vidyalayam Davangere hosted the CBSE Inter-School Chess Tournament, graced by esteemed personalities, including Dr. Venkatesh MV, District Collector, Shri Dinesh K Shetty, President of the District Sports Authority, and Shri Yuvaraj, Secretary of the Chess Association. Notable attendees also included Principal Smt. Prathibha N., Vice-principal Shri Prateek H.S., Administrator of Amrita Vidyalayam Shri Nandish Rao Puthali, and Shri Vivek N.C., Principal of Amrita PU College.
Under the blessings and guidance of our Director Bri. Aradhanamrita Chaitanya, the event commenced with a traditional welcome, accompanied by Veda chanting and a shower of flowers. The school choir delivered an invocation seeking the blessings of the Divine Mother, followed by a formal welcome address by Smt. Usha Suresh. The esteemed guests inaugurated the tournament by making the opening moves on the chess boards, officially signaling the start of the competition.
A total of 210 enthusiastic students from 18 CBSE schools in Davangere district participated in this grand event. The host school extended felicitations to the guests for their esteemed presence. The day’s pinnacle arrived with the awarding of the tournament’s winners. Smt. Vanita, the Hub Leader of the Davangere District CBSE School Hub, stepped forward to honour and acknowledge all the winners. She distributed certificates, commendations, and applause to the enthusiastic participants. It was an honour for the host school to felicitate Smt. Vanita, the esteemed Hub Leader.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Smt. Roopa S.S. With a prevailing sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, the event concluded on a high note, leaving all involved with cherished memories of a successful tournament and a heartfelt celebration of sportsmanship.
