“Learning and Teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow; instead they should embark together on a journey down the water”.

Keeping this in mind, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus organised a Principals’ Day Out on February 9th at Hotel Pooja International Davangere. Around 100 principals from various PU colleges across Davangere district were invited for the meet. Chief guest Shri Niranjan G.C., Deputy Director, Department of PU Colleges graced the occasion; other guests of honour were Shri Chandrashekhar G.B., Retired Principal, Shri Suresh K.S., President of PU Colleges Principals’ Association, Davangere, Bri. Anjali amma, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam Davangere, Br. Anand Shenoi, Chairman of Admissions, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore and Prof. Krishnankutty M.S., Chairman, CCD, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.

The program began with an invocation, lighting of the lamp and welcome address, and the guests were felicitated for their excellence in the field of education. Shri Niranjan, in his speech, emphasised that as an educationist one must bring out the best in students and prepare them to become competent enough to meet the challenges of life. Shri Chandrashekhar enlightened the gathering with motivational stories and stressed that only skill education can genuinely prepare students for being successful in their career. Shri Suresh urged the principals to prepare students to effectively take up challenges in diverse domains of education. In his inspirational speech, Br. Anand Shenoi stated that learning skills along with acquiring knowledge would enable students to not only be job seekers, but also job creators and emerge as global leaders in the area of technology to benefit mankind.

Bri. Anjali Amma addressed the gathering by urging the principals to develop students who respect the environment and foster sustainability in managing our resources. Prof. Krishnankutty stressed the role of Principals in shaping the vision of students while exploring the world. Prof. Krishnankutty was felicitated by the Davangere PU College Principals Association for his active involvement in organising the meet.

The meet concluded with vote of thanks, lunch and national anthem. The principals dispersed after Shanti Mantra with the hope of making their students efficient and resourceful.
